Getting Down On Sunday!

The last two days have been awesome.  Friday, unfortunately I woke up with a cold and a ridiculous sore throat – but, it was the last day of school!!  Students were awesome, I gave tons of hugs, made root beer floats for the kids, packed up my room (boo), and as a fundraiser – got pied in the face!  Last year I was completely unprepared for the pie smooshing … but this year I was ready!  Last year my hair smelled like curdled milk all day, which in turn made me gag and want to detach me from myself.  This year – I came with a plan, face wash, towels, and my make-up bag (haha)!
Driving home from school I got a text from Joey, saying he didn’t catch the early bus and that he would be here later!  This ended up being a blessing in disguise.  Since I felt like crap and didn’t sleep much the night before, I ended getting home and crashing for 3 hours of much needed sleep.  Then it was time to wake up and get ready.  I did my hair, my make-up, and tried on about 8 different outfits before picking the best one.  The bus finally came at 9, and my outfit made a 5-minute debut as Joey made his way off the bus.  We hugged; we kissed, got in the car, had a sexy date at the McDonald’s drive thru, and then drove home (haha).  Darn that jet lag!  But at least he was home!!  Cosmo cried when he saw his daddy, and Elaine wagged her nubby little tail so hard I thought it was going to fall off!

Saturday was a full and fun day!  We woke up early, had breakfast with my family, and then went shopping.  Of course we went to Walmart, and thankfully this time I didn’t look like I should be on www.peopleofwalmart.com.  We got Joey some toiletry items that couldn’t be packed for his flight over.  Then we stopped in the baby aisle … do you know how cute baby socks and baby booties are?  It was just so nice to be normal with my husband.  I miss doing errands with him!  We went to Petco and got too many treats and a toy for the dogs.  We had Chinese for lunch, and then saw “The Green Lantern”.  I liked it.  Ryan Reynolds is really smart-assedly (yes, I did just make up that word) funny … I wonder if he is like that in real life?

Today we woke up early (again … I’m noticing a pattern here … ) and went to church with my mom and dad.  Joey that it would be funny to take pictures of my while putting on mascara, and I must say, I have lovely eyelashes (haha).  After church we had pictures take by a stream and on the hiking trails by it.  They came out very nice and I am excited to get some prints and frame them!  I wanted portraits done for us … we haven’t had professional pictures done since out wedding.  I thought it was about time we did them.  I am sad that the dogs weren’t in them, but this morning we practiced, and Cosmo and Elaine had the worst form of ADD and it just wasn’t happening.

So, over the course of the last three days, I’ve learned some things:
1.  When your husband gets home at 9 PM from a foreign country that is 6 hours ahead, and it’s raining, don’t get dressed up but instead wear sweatpants … cause you are probably just going to bed.
2.  I love having my husband home – he is my BFF.
3.  My eyelashes are lovely and long.
4.  My dogs are spazztastic (also made up that word).
5.  The photographer I chose is a beast – she mountain climbed and bushwhacked to get the good shots.  AWESOME.

Tomorrow I have to go to school.  Sadly, I am going to finish packing and removing my things, and to say goodbye to my work family that I have spent the last two years with.  I am bringing Joey and the dogs with me, and hopefully not crying.  But for tonight, I am looking forward to an EPIC Fusion Frenzy 2 battle, The Killing season finale, and a good night’s sleep!!  We will see what tomorrow brings for us!  J  I hope everyone had a great father’s day weekend, and to those of you that are not just fathers, but truly are “dads”, thanks for all you do and I hope you had a great day!

  1. I am so glad your hubby is home! You are so strong. I couldn't imagine being away from Aaron at any point in time, even after almost 7 years of marriage, I can't imagine not seeing him everyday. Sounds like you had a great weekend and I love the pictures of you putting mascara on!! Haha! I make a wicked stupid face when I do it, and my oldest daughter always laughs at me! :) Enjoy your time with your hubby! And can't wait to see those pictures you guys had done! :)
