Just The Way You Are.

This morning I was reading an article called “10 Beauty Moves Guys Find Sexy”.  Not the most educational thing to read in the world, but some of the things the men said about their favorite ladies was just too cute!  This one passage in particular just made me melt inside:

"She's only gotten more lovely with age," says Henry, 81, of his wife Edith. "Neither one of us have the bodies we used to, but I love each wrinkle and stretch mark. They're a testament to the life we've shared together. I didn't fall in love with her because she looked like Ava Gardner (which she did); I fell in love with her because she was the sweetest girl in the world, and that hasn’t changed in over 50 years of marriage."

With Joey coming home soon, I can’t help but think about this passage and how it applies to us.  We have both changed so much since we first met.  Our bodies are completely different, and so is our mentality.  But each change was for the better.  And even though every time I look in the mirror I always find another flaw, another cellulite dimple, a pimple, a misplaced hair, a curve in the wrong direction, another surgery scar … Joey will tell me that I am beautiful and he loves me the way I am.
Why is it so hard for women to believe this?  We are CONSTANTLY trying to change something about ourselves … whether it be our hair color, straightening our hair, caking on the makeup, crash dieting, etc … When we could just take a second to stop and think, he loves me just the way I am.

  2. That is so cute! It reminds me of when I was pregnant and I gained 65lb's. He always told me I looked beautiful and after I lost the weight he said I never thought you gained much weight. It was sweet and made me feel better. Thats when you can tell if a man really loves you if he see's you for more than your body. Great post Kari! :)
